A Closer Look at the Lamborghini 101

Premium automotive brands, from Aston Martin to Porsche and Bugatti, have been slowly entering the superyacht sector for years, working with various shipyards to create rather ambitious designs and projects. However, none quite match the depth, the drive, and dedication of that between Automobili Lamborghini and Tecnomar, a brand from The Italian Sea Group. Starting with the Tecnomar Lamborghini 63, named for the year the brand was founded and inspired by the Sián FKP 37 hybrid supercar, this limited-edition model is joined by a significantly more ambitious project: the Technomar Lamborghini 101. Officially announced at the 2025 Monaco Yacht Show, the new 101FT, named for her length of 101 feet, sees Lamborghini’s DNA applied to a superyacht like never before in terms of performance, design, and innovation.

Translating Lamborghini’s DNA into yachting

Representing a substantial jump forward in every respect from her little sister, the Lamborghini 101 measures 31 meters in length to the Lamborghini’s 19.2 meters. As the bigger model, the Lamborghini is not designed as a day cruiser, but rather a long-range, sports yacht, complete with four ensuite staterooms, scaled-up deck spaces, crew accommodation, and additional amenities. However, much like her little sister, the Lamborghini 101’s performance remains central to her design concept. The exterior design was created by Lamborghini’s Centro Stile under the direction of Mitja Borkert, the same studio that has operated at the automotive brand’s Sant’Agata Bolognese headquarters for over twenty years and is responsible for the visual identity of every Lamborghini road car, together with Tecnomar.

Similar to the Lamborghini 63, hexagonal motifs run throughout the sharp profile of the Lamborghini 101. The Y-shaped lighting clusters are drawn directly from the limited-edition Fenomeno hypercar, together with the sharp aerodynamic contours and the color, Giallo Crius yellow. Inside, the same design language is applied across the interiors, with hexagonal patterns appearing across all four staterooms. The helm station includes motorsport-grade stitching and carbon trims that reference the sports car interior, and the triple forward helm seats are drawn directly from the Temerario, Lamborghini’s latest hybrid hypercar. Once more, the options for customisation are vast for the Lamborghini 101, and owners can color-match their superyacht’s paintwork to their own Lamborghini, or select from hundreds of individual hues to make their own statement.

Unsurprisingly, the Lamborghini 101’s performance credentials are just as intent and well-thought-out as her design. Three MAN MTU 16V 2000 M96L engines give her a combined output of 7,600 horsepower, powering a triple surface-drive configuration that puts her at the top end of performance in her size category, with a top speed of 45 knots and a cruising speed of 35 knots. The choice of surface drives over conventional shaft drives is a deliberate one, as it reinforces Lamborghini’s identity as a truly fast, high-performance platform rather than a styled day cruiser, whilst ensuring she can deliver the visceral, adrenaline-driven experience that both Lamborghini and Tecnomar have built their reputations around. Performance, the feeling of driving the Lamborghini 101 is key to her concept, and her lightweight aluminium hull is finetuned for higher speeds. Paired with her surface drives and propulsion system, this means she can swiftly cover cruising grounds in comfort without taking away from the thrill of the ride.

The new flagship model of Tecnomar and Lamborghini’s ongoing collaboration, the first hull of the Lamborghini 101, is currently under construction at The Italian Sea Group’s Marina di Carrara facility and due for delivery in late 2027. The second hull was reportedly sold within days of the Monaco Yacht Show announcement, according to Superyacht Times. With two hulls already committed and outfitting underway on the first, the window for a new build Lamborghini 101 is perfectly poised and opened. The ideal superyacht for potential owners who prize performance, customisation, heritage, and Italian style, FGI Yacht Group can guide you through each step of the new build process, from hull position to final customisation.
